An 1880s Hudson Brownstone Reimagined
Located in Hudson, New York, this 3,200-square-foot historic building in Columbia County underwent a complete adaptive reuse transformation. Originally constructed in the 1880s and later operating as a YMCA before becoming a mixed-use property, the structure was thoughtfully converted into a cohesive single-family residence.
Nicole Fisher Interiors led the full-service interior design renovation, reprogramming the layout to support contemporary living while preserving the architectural character that defines Hudson’s historic streetscape. The kitchen was relocated from the third floor to the main level to improve flow and functionality, and a new primary suite with dual walk-in closets and a custom bath was introduced.
Original moldings, stair rails, and spindles were carefully stripped and restored, while existing mahogany detailing was preserved and seamlessly integrated throughout.
The brief: From YMCA to Single Family Living.
The result is a refined residence that balances historic preservation with modern performance, executed with the expertise of a luxury interior design firm serving the Hudson Valley.
